It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.
